Lunch will be provided at the symposium.

Attendees are encouraged to use this opportunity to network with peers from across the TMC. In addition, several of the symposium guest speakers will host separate informal table discussions for attendees to solicit additional career advice. 

Representatives from BCM and UT Health’s Human Resources will also be available to address current vacancies at their respective institutions.

HOW TO NAVIGATE FUNDING

Attend the funding session to hear first-hand experiences and advice and to interact with a panel of successfully funded scientists! Both postdocs and independent group leaders will talk about how to get funded throughout the different steps of your career, and the relevant steps towards independent funding. The challenges met by international scientists when it comes to apply for funding will also be addressed during the session.

GRANT WRITING TIPS

By attending the grant writing session, you will have the opportunity to get insights on the Art of Grant Writing. Independent investigators from various institutions will give a short presentation with general guidelines to write a successful grant. Moreover, they will provide specific details on the do’s and don’ts of grant writing. Presentations will be followed by a Q&A.
