Dr. Guo obtained his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Kentucky, and has recently became an instructor after 5 years of postdoc at UT MD Anderson Cancer center. During his postdoc, he sought to apply the skills gained in biochemistry, enzymology and structural biology in graduate school to an emerging area in cancer biology to study the role of collagen-modifying enzymes play in lung cancer metastasis. His short-term career goal is to establish an independent research program that studies how collagen-modifying enzymes contribute to cancer and fibrosis, for which he obtained a K99 award. In the long run, his interest is to explore how extracellular matrix, matricellular proteins, and related regulatory pathways influence health and disease.
