OMKARA VEERANKI, DVM, PH.D.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow
MD Anderson Cancer Center

Dr. Veeranki obtained her PhD in Cancer Pathology and Prevention at Roswell Park Cancer Institute where she studied the chemopreventive properties of isothiocyanates such as sulforaphane for bladder cancer prevention. For her postdoctoral studies at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center she is investigating the role of CDK9 in sensitizing esophageal and gastric tumors to radiotherapy. She obtained DoD funding to further her studies on efficacy of CDK9 inhibitors in gastric cancer. Her interests lie in academic research, leadership and education.
